I decanted but there was super fine sediment that was hard to exclude, left about a glass in the bottle that was densely turbid. The decanted portion was a beautiful ruby hue and the nose was fairly classic cali cabernet profile but it was hard to appreciate any complexity. Palate was a bright and tart fruit and was better with food. Little evolution over 1 hour.
overall I liked and enjoyed it but found less complexity and interest vs the basic estate offering and no comparison to the classic monte bello releases, and no comparison to the last outing of this release.
I will give this the benefit of the doubt and I have one more bottle and feel it should be stood up for 72 hours prior to decanting

Sometimes wines will not live up to published review but this is is all that an more... I opened but did not decant about 3 hours before serving It has an inky appearance with initially jammy aroma that builds complexity to be leafy and nuanced eventually with some curry spice notes. The palate delivers full throttled fruit but balanced with a refreshing acidity. I felt the finish was smooth and did not turn heavy so i can not guess at the ageability

Nose of pencil lead, dark dried fruits, dried herbs, well balanced vanilla oak. Taste of spiced black cherries, and flint. Firm tannins but amazingly already approachable now. Tasted twice, once at Monte Bello and once at home.

Shocking bottle variation.
Please see my last note.
