My Brother-in-law turned me onto this wine, March, 2016, and I immediately went out and bought 6 bottles. I had room for all but 1 in my wine cave, and it did not survive. The one I drank tonight (#5) was well-cared for, and it tasted as good as the first bottle, with a bit more age & mellowing. This wine is not your typical elegant Pinot Noir. It is an in-your-face jammy fruit bomb, with a touch of elegance, and I loved it. Did not decant. The nose had floral notes with herbs, cassis, cherry, and vanilla, evolving to include hints of chocolate. Some legs. When you taste it, you are knocked back by the power of the fruit, showing ripe cherry, raspberry, currant, boysenberry, and plum, with cassis and vanilla, and even some minerality. The tannins were integrated and smooth. The acidity was well balanced. The finish was longer than any American Pinot you have ever had, with the fruit & vanilla carrying out all the way to the end, and even a hint of chocolate as well. Given that this is a Pinot Noir, the character was unbelievably unique, even fascinating. A bit more finish (i'm being greedy now) with a touch more complexity would have pushed this wine to 95 +. The story is that the winemaker for Vision used to work at Caymus, and I can believe it - there is so much Caymus quality in this wine, yet the winemaker distinguishes this wine with his own beautiful style. A true work of art .... I will never again look at Pinot Noir the same.
