A caricature of the juiciest blackberries and mulberries you could only imagine in a psychedelic, Peter Max like hallucination. But the tannin bomb that explodes on the finish wakes you from your berry-infused dream thus grounding you back in the world of the war on wine. Turn on, tune in, drop out, man!

Aromas of deep blackberries, cherries and raspberries, along with scorched earth, eucalyptus and clove. Full-bodied with chewy tannins but some moderate acid brightens it up. Rich, chewy fruit, but maintains tang (black and red cherries, blackberries, sour plums). Along with black tea, espresso, mint and eucalyptus - some complex pepper and soy notes. Wow, another impressive bottle from this producer, maybe just a slight step down from the 2013 but a really solid wine.

Pleasant red cherry, raspberry and earth. Integrated medium tannins/acid. Drinking well now but no rush.

California Vacation (Sonoma, SF, Monterey); 8/5/2017-8/12/2017: Tasted at winery tasting room. Sour plum. Grippy tannins. Some sour cherry kirsch. Some darker notes of spice add intrigue.
