  Really nice champagne, one of the better I've had in a long time. Apples, citrus, some light yeast notes. All in balance, with small, light bubbles to keep it really refreshing.

  I bought several of these many years ago, and have worked through them episodically. The problem? I love older champagnes, but there are few that share my passion. This was not ancient, but it was clearly a senior citizen. A bit of citrus, pineapple, and even pear on the nose. On the palate, there is that older champagne aspect--a hint of oxidation and toms of creamy bread. I was less impressed initially, but it certainly came around in spades.   This is not a champagne for everyone. After a slight sigh on opening, not a lot of bubble to go around and a bit of oxidation but this is completely in my wheelhouse. It has moved beyond champagne and developed a more vinous character. The finish is incredible. Like I said, I think I was the only one that liked this, but boy did I like it.   Of several champagnes poured last night, the Pommery had the most beautiful golden color. Tasted of yeast and apples, a hint of citrus. Only a short-to-medium finish.
