Clear bright scarlet. This still has a ton of structure, but finally opening up a bit, at least from 375. Bright earthy bitter cherry flavors. I’d still hold. YFS

Burg/Bordeaux Dinner with BYO Gang (The Kongsee): Medium pale ruby. Nose exhibiting some richness, with plush ripe cherry and redcurrant, as well as florals, moss, and rich vanilla and cinnamon. Similar characters on the palate, whilst the tannins were still pretty robust, with zingy acids, all the while bring full and plush. Nice!

Having recently tasted the 2013 of this wine, I would compare and contrast. The 2014 is similar in that this wine fits squarely in my wheelhouse for style of Red Burgundy that I love. While both vintages are still very youthful, the 2014 is definitely the bigger more brooding version vs. the 2013 which is more approachable and on a faster evolutionary track. The 2014 has more black cherry and the 2013 has more bing cherry fruit. The 2014 has a fuller mouthfeel and it is a bigger version of 2013. Bottom line... drink the 2013 now, hold the 2014 for another 3-5 years.

Popped and poured. Drinking very nicely tonight, but not quite to the 94 score I gave it last time. Nie developing ruby color, dark buy not opaque. Nose is very nice, with rich yet gentle Pinot fruit, including sour cherry, but with a candy-like aspect to the fruit that is very attractive. Keeps you coming back for another sniff. The palate has plenty going for it, too, and is very nice from entry all the way through the long, ripe finish. Still good tension and grip, so I think this is in no danger of demise in the short term; I actually see no sign of age in the nose or mouth. This wine proved to be a very good bargain. I also think the critics (including my favorite, Vinous) underrated it. 4-12-18-8: 92/100.

Decanted for 1 hour prior to drinking. Paired well with Thanksgiving dinner.
