A Costco special never seen before by me. Nose of ripe cassis, black cherry, hints of saddle leather, cigar box, barnyard, allspice, and sage, same on the palate, very tasty, at peak, especially for $20, medium/big body, and a medium finish.

When first opened, I found the flavor on this wine to be very off-putting. Thankfully after a brief time in the decanter, the wine improved vastly, and opened up as well, showing a touch more body. Color is now garnet with medium levels of intensity, tannin, and acids overall. A nice food wine, though nothing profound at this point in time. In summary, a nice example of Bordeaux that didn't break the bank.

Last of a case bought in 2008. This is why I love wine - a modest bottle properly stored and well decanted and served turns out to be a gem. Fully mature, not in decline but not getting better. The 70/30 Merlot/Cab Franc blend makes it drink like a Pomerol - lush, round and long with maybe a note of sweetness at the end. Delicious!

Decanted for 30+ mins, did not find it to be too tight. Balanced, solid mature Bordeaux. Quite enjoyable, and great QPR.
