  • Tasted blind in VV.

Somewhat developed maroon-hued dark ruby red color. Somewhat restrained and slightly developed nose with aromas of ripe red fruits, some toasty smoke, a little bit of juicy blackcurrants and a hint of wizened dark fruit. The wine is full-bodied and surprisingly structured and angular on the palate with relatively light flavors of fresh dark berries, some sour dark plums, a little bit of tobacco and a hint of wizened blackcurrant. The acidity feels moderately high and the medium tannins lend quite a bit of grip to the midpalate. The finish is quite long and pretty tannic with light flavors of fresh dark fruits and blackcurrants, some tobacco, a little bit of leather and a hint of savory wood.

A surprisingly structured and semi-serious Argentinian Cabernet that shows some development but also seems to have suffered from the aging: flavor-wise the wine feels just too light for its size. The flavors have not only developed, but also lost some of their intensity, so although the wine shows some aged complexity, it also seems to be fading away. With more power and intensity this wine could be a lot better - thanks to its good structure - but now it is just rather underwhelming. Priced somewhat according to its quality at 10,98€.
