medium ruby, still clear and bright, a bit brick hue. nice in nose, fresh berries, creamy and vanilla notes. good weight in mouth, fruity, sweet core, some earth and truffle. a little lean in finish. great terrior of Te Muna, still vigorous.

Under screwcap; decanted more than one hour. On the nose developed aromas of meaty and funky notes with a hint of raspberry. Medium bodied, smooth and supple, showing discreet mellow red fruit/berries, a hint of integrating spicy oak, umami notes, firm acidity and very gentle tannins. This is starting to come around showing already some mature features. Great stuff. Will still improve in the cellar.

A post-lockdown weekend with friends; 5/1/2021-5/3/2021 (Copse Hill, Lower Slaughter): The most enjoyable of the pinots we tried tonight, and a great match for the wild garlic risotto. Decanter calls it "lifted and joyous," and we certainly found the balance of fruit, spice and sous-bois very well put-together. Would seek out.

For all the plaudits elsewhere this was slightly disappointing - a little too sweet a little too 'confected'
