  • Light straw in color, clear; well balanced. Taste is light, off-dry, fresh. I like all my white wines very cold, but I will say that the aromas in this wine definitely came out more as it warmed some... pear, floral.

  • I was able to add a new grape to my list of grapes tasted that is still well below 100 but making progress. Gianfranco & Serena Cordero Langhe Arneis 2014 is described by NW as clear and crisp and it certainly is. The aroma was delicate with whiffs of pear and floral. Recommendation is to drink cold and I found that is how it tastes best to me. It is clear straw yellow in color with thin fast legs. It is dry, light bodied, crisp acidity, well balanced with moderate flavors of pear with some apricot. The taste tactile mouth experience is truly best when it is cold, so I took to have small glasses and refilling. Of course I found this out by sipping on some that had warmed. Still good, but much better cold. The finish was medium with surprising end note of a bit of sweetness. I paired this wine with a chick pea salad and pulled pork over rice. The pairing was excellent and especially complementary to the salad.

Researching this grape a bit I found out that Arneis is well known in the Piedmont wine region of Italy where our NW winemakers grow this grape in the Lange area. It like other renascent grape were almost extinct until rescued. Before that it was taking the back seat to the Piedmont red varieties and also since it was known to be finicky which supports the theory that the variety's name is derived from a Piedmontese word meaning "little rascal". Well suffice to say I’m glad Gianfranco & Serena Cordero are making this very nice wine from the Arneis grape.

  • From Naked Wines. Pale straw color in the glass w/very good clarity; floral, spicy aroma, reminiscent of Gewurtztraminer; flavors dominated by pear and apple w/pleasant stony quality; very crisp & acidic when cold, but balances more completely as it warms in the glass; lingering citrus-dominated finish; overall, a good wine, especially at the price.

  • Off-dry, nice minerality, crisp but not bitter - very drinkable and food-friendly, should be a crowd-pleaser for summer. Glad I have more.
