Celebrating DW’s bday, thought this wine was not only beautiful, with tight beaded bubbles that lasted, but a satisfying flavor profile of bread and stone fruit with just enough acidity to bring it all together. Just lovely.

Pleasant; a balanced, and refined, crowd pleaser. nothing to note here about yeast or growers flavors. It was much more of a run of the mill specimen than I thought it was going to be, but then again not sure why I thought that in the first place. Anyway, as I mentioned it was very good at doing what it does, it’s just not enthralling for me… people around me raved, but the pleibs know nothing to make you say oh my God just as always. And also how much of 2005 is playing into my expectation here…

Wanted to try this as it was on sale and a vintage. I've had their normal 2008 a couple of times and liked it.
This was...more subdued. Definitely not as full of funk and flavor as the 2008. Some sourdough as another commenter noted. More apricot and nectarine than bright citrus. My hubby hated the 2008 and found this one pretty dull as well. I think he doesn't like the house overall.
For the price, even on sale (over $100), this doesn't really stand out. I can find significantly better newer bottles. That said, I wasn't offended by the wine. If it were more in the $50 range or offered freely, I'd drink it for sure.

An Epic Summer Wine Weekend - Year 2; 6/30/2023-7/2/2023 (Muskoka, Ontario, Canada): This wine pours bright medium straw in the glass. The nose is fresh and bright, but with significant richness. Aromas are of caramel apple, toffee, pastry, ripe pear, and vanilla custard. The palate is also tremendously enjoyable with a lovely presence of effervesence, high dosage feeling like 9 or 10 g/l, and a lengthy finish replaying caramel apple which I love. This was another one in the large house producer style with slightly higher dosage and noted richness. Worked well for my palate.

Agree with the prior review of tasting note flavors. This was disappointing for the price. In the palate, really nothing to indicate 18 years of age… no deep color, aromas or secondary or tertiary notes. Bubbles even fading quickly at this point… use a narrow flute. A competently made champagne but wouldn't consider serious at the price point, i.e. no details on label about disgorgement, dosage, a cheap fat cork. Lanson Noble Cuvee is better value at this price point.

My bottle wasn't as colorful as the image.
