Decanted 1 hour after a corked Bordeaux. Nose was somewhat closed with some cherry. Nice mouthfeel and likely at it's peak. Red fruits, chocolate. Went great with the strip steak.

The nose on the wine is very muted currently, but I get hints of casis, cherry and cinnamon. On the palate this wine really takes off with a huge core of casis-cherry liqour but fades by mid-palate revealing fine tannins and subtle falvors of anise, cinnamon, raspberry, cherry and some spices I can't even identify. With some age I'm hoping the cherry dies down and the nose opens up! At the winery I tried this in the barrel and it had a much better nose, so I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Barrel Sample. The best of the Connoisseur Series in my opinion. Most costly French Oak barrels at $1250 per barrel, this wine has more spicy berry character with a concentrated berry flavors, but what really sets it apart from tasting the same juice in different barrels is that this was by far the silkiest and most delicate of the 6 types of barrels we tasted. So good I bought 6 bottles.

Nice flavored. Should have drank with a thick steak as it would have been perfect.
