  • Bordeaux Marts 2024

Magnum - perfect fill and cork, first mag out of 6 and it's just a great Bordeaux of Bordeaux in a great vintage, the balance is stunning, came out quite 'pomerol' in the nose and hard to get the Pessac to start with, after 45/60 mins it became very classic, tobaco, leather, and did not show any sign of weekness, it got with air more and more deep and gained in volume, brillant !

  • No notes taken. Like many 1985s, this is drinking at its peak. Wonderful, telltale Mature Pessac aromas of tobacco, with some leather and truffles notes as well as a dark fruit and minerality core underneath. Fine, mature, light frame and feel. Good tension upon opening, this faded a bit away, lost aromatic intensity and structural integrity with more time in the glass. The first 20 minutes, this was a 95+ pts experience with missing additional complexity for a higher rating. Afterwards it declined quickly into anonymity.

    Decanting: No decant needed.

  • Tasted at Le Clarence in Paris. Aging notes dominate with underwood, sous-bois, tobacco, dried earth and mushroom notes. Fruit of mixed forest berries was still present and added life to the bouquet. Palate has sufficient freshness and also still had some fruit left underneath the aging notes. But the harmony and balance were rather wobbly and the structure felt quite vulnerable. Drinks amazingly well for an aged Bordeaux, but would only double-decant briefly and try to consume swiftly.

  • Wow, what a difference a bottle makes. Nose of leather, sweet cassis, berries. Color is beginning to brick a little. Taste is balanced acidity with red berries, soft and not over powered; tobacco, earth. Not a finish to speak of, can’t find tannins, but the acid lingers in mid/front palate in a comforting manner. Solid bottle.

  • Nose of over ripe plums and raisins. Undrinkable.
