This was a surprise. I’m drinking down most of my ‘98 CdPs because so many have been lackluster. Every now and then, one nails it. This one nailed it. Brick red color. Nose of crushed blackberries also evident on the palate for me. Super smooth wine with a wonderful mouth feel. Light acidity so I don’t expect it to last much longer. A tad under the amazing ‘98 Pegau I had last week.

Regular dinner group (By JvT @ Fitzgerald): Chocolate brown color. In the bouquet celery and organic flavors. On the palate sweet licorice, chocolate, still some soft dark fruits, cinnamon, ok acidity and a firm amount of sweetness. Good length. Overall still ok, but for my taste this bottle was a bit past its peak. No score.

A weekend in East Sussex (UK): Served from magnum. Showing very well. Grenache galore, deep, intense, rich - and balanced with lots of garrigue and local character. I am loving this, a true mature neuf. A much better showing than I remember.

This was drinking really nicely after only about 1/2 hour of uncorking. The tannins are subtle and well integrated. There were loads of raspberry and plum on the palate with a medium to long finish. I wish I had more of this one.
