Black sour cherry, woodsy and mushroomy, floral notes of rose as well. Palate shows nice acid to support supple fruit, tannic structure there, but not overwhelming. This is not a "small" wine in any way - powerful with subtle complexities abound. Long, long finish extending for over a minute. Out of a half bottle with dubious storage, too.

BBQ and wine (logan square, Chicago IL): Nose: There is a bit of oak that is prominent right away that doesn't entirely fade along with dark red cherries, raspberries, vanilla, licorice, spice, and some herbs. This is more forward on the nose and it lacks some depth.
Taste: The feel is medium bodied with tart, medium+ acidity and fine grained, medium tannins. The oak on the nose follows through on the palate as well as dark red cherries, raspberries, spice notes, and licorice.
Overall: I'd hope that the oak recedes with time, but the fruit profile is still on the darker side. It doesn't really speak of Morey-Saint-Denis and more speaks to a dark fruited, pinot noir.

Perfectly balanced, earthy nose of wet leaves, mushroom & red fruit, palate of freshly-picked red cherry, hints of cherry tomato, white pepper & tobacco leaves, silky tannins, medium finish.

Red fruit (cherry), minerality, slight floral, tannins, good acidity. Enjoyable but needs more time. 5-10 more years. Lingering finish.
