Nose: Ripe blackberry and cassis, loads of anise, Palate: Ripe cassis, sweet blackberries, velvetty oak, flowery vanilla custard, chalky and mildly grippy tannins, good acidity. To me this is a quintessential Napa cab that hits all the notes evenly. Over the past two weeks or so, I've sampled the 2011 and 2012 from this estate and this one by far is my favorite as it's the most youthful and balanced.

AMAZING! Took about an hour to open up. initially had a chemical taste. After opened has a nice acidity and front pallet... nothing on the back pallet. No finish. Upper and middle pallet is missing. This was great with food. Alone is a bit stringent.

First, very surprised that this is Howell Mountain fruit. Primary notes were red fruits, leaning towards the tart, versus the darker fruits I expected. Mouthfeel was definitely lighter/thinner than expected as well. A nice enough, balanced cabernet, but an underperformer once price comes into the equation. (Note: score is independent of that price remark).
