From the wine list at Osteria del 36, Parma. This was lovely from start to finish - pretty nose of cherries and roses. On the palate this was light, elegant and silky. In a really good place now.

deliciously floral nose, with a mouth on a magnificent tangy fruit, this bottle would almost have passed for a beautiful blind pinot. Only the final remains a little compact. It will really make a beautiful bottle in a few years.

Au restaurant à Monforte d'Alba, assez dure, manque de fruit, ne s’est pas réellement ouverte pendant le repas, puissante mais sans beaucoup de plaisir, attendre

Perfumed, with notes of cloves, some spices, dark fruit, tar, some crushed flowers, also some mineral notes and cedar. It‘s medium-full bodied, but lighter in mid-palate, has medium+ tannin and medium+ acidity. Good length. This seems to be a Vigna Rionda that will drink well earlier but lacks the thrill of the best vintages.
As quite a few of the 2012, this lacks a little bit in mid-palate depth to be truly profound. Similar showing on day 2 and 3.

2018 Visit to Massolino: A Barolo with four years in (relatively neutral) oak, followed by two years in bottle. “2012 is an interesting, classical vintage”, Alessandro opined. The best wine at the tasting. A beautiful bouquet. Complex, a compote of red and black berries and cherries, cinnamon and other baking spices and rose petals. Closed on palate. Huge fruit volume, structure and power but very well balanced. A complex flavour profile but with slate and iron at its centre. It needs 8-10 more years in the cellar.
