Monthly Tasting Group HWS #112; South Africa (@ RvD): In the bouquet dark berries and cherries, herbs and spices; even brown spiced biscuit. On the palate firm cherry fruits, spices, oak, some earth, good acidity and slightly sticky tannin.

We about this Pinotage at the suggestion of the Laithwaites' wine lady. She has been steering us in the right direction at every visit so we had confidence.
We always find Pinotage either to be "eh" or "wow"! This was one of the first times we fell somewhere in-between, leaning closer to "wow" and settling somewhere in the region of very good.
Dark black red on the eye. Aromas of dark cherries and chocolate. Palate of black cherries, some spice and dark chocolate. Smooth, but we were searching for the tannins, which apparently remained back at the winery :-(. We expected more body. We do not think additional years in the bottle will change the fact this Pinotage was slightly too light for our palates, albeit very nice flavours at an exceedingly reasonable price.

wine with a strong Taste and some silky tannins left, a bit fruity, possible to wait one or two more years to improve

Drank this with friends last night, great wine.
Deep garnet in colour. Nice black cherry and some smoke on the nose.
Nice on the palette black fruit and spice medium acidity and soft tannins.

Weekly tasting group #213; A fully blind test. (@ AH): Expressive bouquet with some smoke. On the palate a firm amount of oak and sweetness, mild acidity and round tannin. Some length. Ok wine.
