From a bottle purchased upon release and cellared under pristine conditions, this 16-year-old Chardonnay is impressively complex and is (amazingly) at its apogee. Deep golden, medium-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic (13.5%) and optimally oaked, it delivers a package of orange marmalade, peaches, honey, wet stones and jasmine. Amazingly layered and deep on the middle palate, it moves on to a lengthy finish that adds a subtle note of walnut. This has aged very gracefully...without any Hollywood plastic surgery. Drink now.

2004 Vintage Burgundy Tasting and Oxidation Check (Part 1) (BLT Fish, New York City): Now this is more like it with all of the gorgeous, airy, elegant, mineral-soil, white flower, and resin character typical of the site at its best. Showed at least as well as my last bottles of this wine (consumed 7/09 and 8/10), and perhaps still on the way up. I’ve recently enjoyed this producer’s ’05 and '07 versions as well, but the ’04 seems clearly better today.

i've been drinking some F-G, since I've experienced a premox issue with their wines. This was fantastic. Leflaive-like, smokey nose with complex citrus, roasted hazelnuts, and that 2004 herbal / mineral thing that adds depth. punches above its weight.

very young (of course, since it's not oxidized). big nose of flower and oak spice, medium body with nice lemon custard and oak spice. Nice, but not special and a F-G has a poor history of oxidation.

It's only ok. Light nose, light body. Not enough complexity. Probably early premox.
