Basewine from 2018. Dégorgé in May 2022.. On the nose expressive. Honeyapples, cream and brioche. On the palate almonds, tart apples, a hint of grapefruit. Vigorous mousse. Quite elegant.

From 2017 base this shows great richness and depth, brioche, toast and somewhat nutty, honeyed apple, still an elegance to it but the acidic drive on the finish is what separates this style in my book- Krug, Egly and this.

Green apple, quince and pastry. Almost a touch of sweetness. Rich and heavy, this feels higher dosage. A little plain, but there is nothing out of place here.

2019 base, nose is a bit shy at first, fine bubbles, some green apple, lemon zest, gets nuttier as it warms, clean white fruit at this stage, let this sit a another year or two, still a serious Champagne that is still emerging from its shell.

(NV Philipponnat Champagne Royale Réserve Brut) Light yellow color with abundant, tiny, speedy bubbles; yeasty, tart pear, light white chocolate nose; tasty, rich but poised, white chocolate, tart apple, pear palate; medium-plus finish 91+ points

(Philipponnat Royale Reserve Brut) #2; COLOR-golden; NOSE-tight; little hint of smokiness, but not much more; PALATE-this is intriguing; comes across as complex and classy; a little young right now; I get clove; some floral and mineral aspects; feel like I ate a crushed rock and oyster sea shell salad; also some banana skin on the back-end; seems very complex, but feels like it hasn't fully opened yet; this is a little awkward right now, but I believe has some long term potential; WS-91; GV-89/91
(NV Philipponnat Champagne Royale Réserve Brut) Lovely, bit, oaty, yeasty nose; tasty, yeasty, mineral and chalky edge palate with good acidity; tart, juicy, medium finish 90+ pts.
(NV Philipponnat Champagne Royale Réserve Brut) Almond and cream nose; tasty, creamy, tart citrus fruit, refreshing palate with good acidity; short-medium finish 90+ pts.

Ultra-pale greenish gold color. Small glass. Tart, bright, lemon, geat acid, limestone, chiseled and crisp. Drank like an Extra Brut. Very nice.
