  • Translucent red with a tinge of brown. Faint, red-fruited nose. Pleasant enough on the palate but rather simple. Cherries, bit of blackberry. Soft tannins, good acidity, decent balance. A touch hot. Finishes moderately long with spice and red fruits. Drink up. Not that bad, but given the vineyard source, disappointing even at this age. 45% Mourvèdre; 30% Syrah; 25% Grenache. 14.8% ABV.

  • Under screwcap. This has aged beautifully. Was worried that this would be too big, but it is exceptionally well-balanced. A bit of barnyard/funk, brambly fruit, deep, complex, very long, complete finish. At $45 on release in 2006 this wasn't cheap, but I wish I had bought more.

  • This Rhone blend is comprised of 45% Mourvedre, 30% Syrah and 25% Grenache. In the glass, the wine is a cloudy ruby with an enticing aroma of maraschino cherry. On the palate, the wine, is medium to full-bodied with the same maraschino cherry, as well as licorice, baking spices and muted oak. It has a medium-length finish and is perfectly integrated; so, I would imbibe it now rather than waiting for it to improve in the cellar. Absolutely delightful, and an incredible hit at the last party I attended. Unlike other Villa Creek wines, this vintage came with a screw cap, which probably explains its vibrant attack even after 11 years in the bottle.

  • BLACK CHERRIES, RASPBERRIES, AND SPICE IN THE NOSE WITH CHERRIES, LICORICE, AND EARTHINESS IN THE FLAVOR. A RUSTIC WINE WITH NICE LEGS AND A MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.

  • Sadly, I think this one has gone over the hill. Very little fruit left and a bit of menthol going on. It was ok but not what I expected.
