Amazing the amount of bottle variation this wine has exhibited over the years. Some are just average, others are extraordianry. This one was very good, but not the best I've seen from this wine. It has gained enough age to be showing a bit of Madiera, along with lots of depth and complexity on the nose. Still plenty of fruit, and a good finish. Lots to like in this wine! But at the same time, it's a bit angular. Not quite as rounded as I'd expect in a 15 year old Burg.

This bottle was extraordinary! As mentioned before though, lots of bottle variation with this one. Some bottles have been pretty ho-hum. This one knocked my socks off.

This is drinking wonderfully. Bouquet of cherries, smooth tannins, balanced finish. Took several years for this to evolve, but it is in its prime window.

Wine is in its drinking range. Fruit present but less than last time we tasted it. Tannins soft and integrated. Good acid balance. The telltale sign of peak, or slightly past, is the drop in the finish length. This wine should be consumed within the next 6-9 months.

(Perrière (Fixin) Fixin Clos de la Perrière) Much darker colour. The nose is wide with a more herbal aspect. More concentrated with quite some tannin, but it’s quite round. Good length though there’s a faint edge of bitterness. This is not bad for the vintage.

Definitely gaining in complexity as it matures. This is becoming a very appealing wine with lots of depth.
