Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 95 points

  • Last of 3 bought from Malmaison (buyer Clive Coates) in 1984, pnp, soaked and blackened cork, ullaged 2 cm - old gold; quince, apricot and many other fascinating flavours, amazingly fresh and vigorous given colour and age; medium bodied, outstanding length and persistence and inherent concentration, heavily botrytised, no longer particularly sweet but rich whilst being much lighter than Sauternes and less concentrated than a German TBA, enthrallingly complex, no upside but no rush if any more bottles still exist of this from this outstanding vintage. VF (18.5)..........bottles' slip labels marked with date and "doux" (NOT moelleux) traditionally the sweetest and rarest only produced in the very best vintages (eg 1947).
