this made an admirable match to sage and prosciutto wrapped filet steak and cream, potato, bacon bake...all plums, leather, sweet spice, a little cherry, a little herbaceous note and a touch of cellar stink. More softly fleshy than acidic - probably just the right side of freshness but right on the border for me, the plums are sweet and ripe. Tannins are soft, alcohol warmth is non-intrusive, breadth of palate and mouthfeel are present here. Kind of nice.

This is still drinking very well. Perhaps surprisingly, even better than 3 years ago. Rich plum, spice and Christmas pudding. Oak perfectly integrated. Delicious. Wanted more. (93 Excellent wine)

Impenetrable ruby black. Dark plums, coffee, and spicy oak on the nose. Similar flavours on the palate. Chalky tannin, bright acidity, fresh, but a little thin on the finish. Grew in complexity in the glass (91 Very good wine)

Merlot Tasting (Sydney, Australia): Very good savoury character here - earth, bright cherry, blueberry and plum. The same balance between sweet fruit and savoury earth continues on the palate and I really like the depth to it. A very appealing wine with time to develop further. After two recent flawed bottles, it was nice to finally get a good one!
