From magnum. This well-cellared bottle is a tribute to the benefits of mid-term ageing of Oregon pinot noir under proper cellar conditions (not to say that many 20+ year-old examples, the limit of my exposure, aren't absolutely wonderful). Savory dark cherry and black fruit for days, still enough grippy backbone to grab your attention. Drink 750s now, 1.5Ls over the next 2-5 yrs.

Decanted about 2 hours. Medium color with a clear rim. Gorgeous aromas of black fruit, sweet and savory herbs and some baking spices. Structured on entry with firm but accessible fruit lifted by lively acidity. More red fruited on the palate. The tannins are well integrated and the flavors flow seamlessly into a long, memorable finish. The better '05s are really showing well these days. 93pts. Drink now to 2022.

Decanted about an hour. Quite dark with a thin clear rim and a touch of brick dust. Powerfully aromatic with notes of dense black fruit, sweet and savory spices and notes of earth and smoke. Authoritative layers of concentrated black cherry and plum. The palate in dense but lifted by bright acidity. The tannins are apparent but very well integrated. Long, complete and balanced on the finish, this leave a great impression. The 2005s are really starting to hit their stride. 93 pts. Drink now through 2021.

Still had a great strong color, and a tartness that was a little jarring. Otherwise this drank very nicely.
