I think the bottle we had about a year ago was better. This one has higher acidity and those dark fruits and licorice notes we love so well seem to be a bit muted. Maybe these are starting to go the other way. I’ll never know, this was my last one.

Surprisingly light color on the nose. Strong classic aglianico nose when we first opened it: tar, roses, etc. But it blends more with a tawny/red fruited/oxidized character after being open for about an hour. Dried cherries and rosehip. On the palate, medium + tannin, medium+ acid. More classic aglianico on the palate with the rose/tar centered.
This is in a great spot right now. There's definitely a density of the fruit which ties it to California, but this reflects its Italian roots.

Slightly shy nose. Somewhere between deep and light colored, similar to a Grenache in hue. There's a slight spicy, peppery note on the palate. Nothing is out of line, just pure elegance all the way through. Very enjoyable.

Evolving nicely. The tannins are integrating and the wine is taking on a nice, big spicy finish. Last bottle, but I think these improve from here. Drink or hold.

Really nice place right now. Good acidity, elevated spice notes, black cherry, leather, anise. Great wine.
