  • Bold, dense and tough. Wine was tight first evening even though we decanted it. It opened up slightly 2nd and 3rd day. Finally, fully opened on day 4. Cassis, vanilla, dark cherry. Highly structured, and frankly quite overwhelming.

  • Color: deep ruby
    Nose: cherry, leather, anise, vanilla
Taste: cherry, cola, raspberry, anise, floral
This is big upfront with bold flavors of cherry and raspberry followed by a cola chaser with a drop of cough syrup. Big, full wine with a bunch of Tannins lingering on the palate for a big finish. Good now but I think this has years to run.

  • 14.5% abv. 962 cases produced. 86% CS, 9% CF, 3% PV, 2% Merlot.
Kind of a caricature of big, higher-quality Napa Valley Cabernet, with plenty of French oak, ripe fruit, and slick, silky mouthfeel. More on the elegant end of the spectrum, as the fruit was not super dense and concentrated. The complex flavor profile really shows on the palate as it coats your mouth and a little air mixes in. Really good, well-made Cab for this style -- not my favorite as I prefer a little less oak influence, but this style does have a place at my table. Went very well with grilled Prime NY steaks (nicely marbled). If scoring, 93 - 94.
Will bury my last bottle of this for another 5 years at least, as I think this will improve in the long haul.

  • See prior notes - fantastic wine. I think it is drinking beautifully right now. May benefit from another year or two but very enjoyable and approachable.
