A weeper with a cork whose core is soft. The worm pulls out only crumbs. An au-so removes only an other portion of the cork. The rest slips in the bottle. A strainer and decanter later, the wine is pouring clear and clean. It still shows primary in color with plum at the core and rim. The nose is all smoke, blackberry, mineral and rosemary. It all carries through with precision and grace. A slip of anise approaches on the finish. The mouthfeel is nice, round, and full. This is a surprise wine; an incredibly nice wine and very satisfying. I can see why Joey Tensley likes the fruit from this estate. Silky smooth with a ripeness that captivates. Just a shadow of sediment showing at this point. 13.9% alc. From magnum. With seared and peppercorn crusted roasted beef tenderloin with mushroom sauce. With the Ad Hoc - Policy Review Committee. Recommended and just a notch below Highly Recommended.

This bottle was opened 12/06. Had with Pork Chops, Prime Rib and Filet Mignon. Excellent. The group that drank it found it outstanding. Beckman makes consistantly good wines!! Thanks for a good 2000 Syrah.

Very nice California syrah, with meat, dark berry flavors, medium bodied and nicely textured.

($25) Great varietally correct nose. Includes some interesting notes of candied orange. Red fruits on the palate. Bit short but nice.
