I just had a glass of the 2013, and the differences between these two wines are pronounced - blind, there is no way that I would guess they were siblings. This has a deeper toned nose with both red & black fruit, and even a little funk lurking in the background.
More expansive on the palate as well - medium-bodied. These are both 100% Nerello Mascalese, so I'm guessing the only difference here is due to the vintage, but it is surprising, at least to me, to try these wines side-by-side and see how little they have in common.

Nose: cherry, strawberry, ash, earth, flinty mineral, black black pepper Taste: medium bodied, high- tannins, high- acidity, tart cherry, cranberry, dried cranberry, smoke, earth, flinty mineral, black tea, bright and elegant, needs food, on day 2 more dried fruits and better balance

Consistent with 2016 notes. Good with mushroom ravioli and red sauce. Pretty light, still a bit tannic but not sure this one is going to develop any further. Drink up with food.

Tart cherries, herbs and still a bit grippy. A little pepper and minerals. 3 of them quite nice with Christmas Eve cioppino!
