Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Truly Memorable, in all respects. Fabulous.

The bottle - impressive. Provenance - impeccable, released by Bruno Clair from their library last year. Perfect condition, right in the wheelhouse of the drinking window.

Poured directly into large Burgundy balloons (Riedel Sommelier), the scents - already explosive, intensified. Red and dark fruits, sous bois, tart currants and cassis, red plum; waves of darker fruits, a momentary flash of earthiness all commingled, and sent up layer upon layer of stimulation.

I was immediately struck by the lightness, the incredible balance of fruit and acidity, and the intensity of flavors. Perfect harmony, long lasting finish, fully integrated tannins, very little sediment, and enough acidity to keep it fresh, youthful at 20+ years.

    A profound drinking experience.
Rated HC on a scale of -1 to 3. (Hors Category, i.e., 3++).
