  • An outstanding wine with great complexity on the nose and palate. Cranberry, raspberry, stewed plums, dried herbs, tobacco, nutmeg, charred wood, mushrooms, and forest floor all emerge from the glass. The tannins are present and fine-grained, and will soften in time. It gets plummier as it warms in the glass. The flavours come in waves. This will grow in complexity and continue to reward for years to come. Brilliant.

  • The nose is odd for the first hour, a lot of oak influence gives the wine a modern, slick feel. With time it integrates and the nose is dry leaves and Underwood, and red fruit. There’s no way I would peg this as Chambolle if served blind, it’s rustic and autumnal on the nose and I would lean towards an NSG or maybe even a good Beaune. Well balanced and with decent complexity and resonance on the palate. This is a good villages wine, but not something that demonstrates Chambolle specific terroir, as I’ve experienced that to be.

  • Very much agree with Ghoulardi's note - this was excellent and made me want to seek out more Clair wines (this was my first). A beautiful limpid crimson. Expressive, tempting, complex nose, with rose, exotic wood, spice, blackcurrant and plenty of muddy undergrowth. There's a hint of tannin and plenty of acidity, as expected, along with plenty of chewy berry fruit. Although the palate was less alluring than the nose, I loved the feeling of presence without weight.

  • Ethereal, primary, and luxurious. This is much better than the bottle I had earlier this year, which I'd just chalk up to bottle variation. Beautiful bouquet of spices, herbal notes, and bright red fruit. Haven't had much Bruno Clair, but this makes me want to seek out more.

  • Red-brown colour with a lovely transparency. This is wonderful Chambolle - ethereal perfumed nose. Lovely middle weight flavours with good intensity and just perfectly balanced. In an ideal place now.
