"Let's spend all our money on grape juice" (Chicago, IL): As much as I like Enfield's chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon, I've never found that the tempranillo does anything for me. Perhaps it's the stem inclusion which gives this wine a slightly woody quality that I've mistaken for oak more than once -- indeed, that odd coconut flavour comes through here. Nonetheless, the fruit profile and overall weight of the wine is lovely -- it's that weird coconutty thing that I can't get past.

I tasted this bottle 1 and 2 years ago and can say this has evolved nicely with life ahead. It is fuller and more palette-coating than I recall. This time I drank it over 1.5 hours open and it kept positively evolving and blossoming. At the end: Large aromas of succulent red fruit, graphite, and a trace of cracked black pepper. Palette is very tannin forward with med acidity and notes of red fruits, mineral, and a little something green.

Nice wine, with distinctive cherry and earthy herbal/spicy notes. The tannins are prominently in the forefront; acid cut keeps it food friendly. Medium bodied. John Enfield recommends "drink now", but I'll let mine sit a few years at least.

Continues to be a delicious medium bodied red, and a killer value.
