I really went back and forth between 87/88 for this wine, but the cherries and mocha finally won me over. Sure, the nose is really dominated by oak, but a little air helps integrate the wine and your left with lots of ripe currants, cherries, creamy mocha, not too much vanilla, a very smooth delivery and a long finish. Would recommend.

Drinking pretty well right now. Really benefited from breathing for an hour. If you have these I wouldn't hold them much longer...

Football & Merlot @ Howard's 2009 (Old Greenwich, CT): Not bad for a budget Merlot. Sweet nose, structured palate. Medium bodied, grippy, and nicely dry on the finish.

Very nice wine. Chocolate and cherries, with a nice amount of toasty oak. Very supple tannins.
