  • Definitely on the riper side of gamay. Rich and ripe dark fruit, and could be mistaken for a much higher priced CA Pinot. Some layers of interest, including oyster shell minerals, a saline streak, and a bit of carbonic red candy. While a bit flabby and tiring on the mid-palate, it’s interesting to show the breadth of expression for the grape - especially while still maintaining <13% alc. A winner for those that like ripe CA Pinot.

  • Fruity and fun, if a bit simple. Richer and a lick sweeter than a typical Beaujolais. Drink now for maximum enjoyment of supple red fruits.

  • PNP. Cork perfect. Color garnet w purplish edges. Nose of cherry and blackberry w sappy note. Swishing shows great acid and sweet tannin along with some sweetish dark fruits. A night later this is even smoother. Nose still has the minerality for its namesake petits fers. Not as rich and dense as the methven. Still I likey and absolutely crushed it with chicken provencale.

  • Division Winemaking Company Tasting (Doi Moi - DC): I'm intrigued by Oregon Gamay, and this wine is great example. It smells like bright strawberries and jammy cherries and raspberries with notes of rocky earth and violets. Smooth but slightly chewy tannins, vibrant acidity, the wine comes off silky. Juicy black cherry and raspberry fruit topped with earth, roses, violets, subtle spice (Cinnamon? Pepper?). Richer fruit than a lot of Cru Beaujolais, but it's on point with the fruit and earthy-mineral elements. Finishes clean and fresh. So pleasurable to drink, so good with all sorts of food, so inexpensive, what's not to love? Some carbonic fermentation, some traditional, the combination is working well. From two vineyards, one in Eola-Amity Hills and the other in Umpqua.
