Good just barely middle-aged pinot flavors with youthful color, stunning for it's age, but still with aggressive tannins. This could have a long life ahead of it.

As I look back at Richard Jennings note from 2004, the wine has surely changed. It's no longer super concentrated or ripe, having now folded in all of the parts. Faint nose, even through a Riedel burg stem but some crushed rocks and red fruits. Color is still right there, ruby-purple and showing no signs to me of fading to brown. The palate is still fresh, juicy and alive, with cherry, blueberry, orange rind and fresh flavors. No way this wine is fading and it's in focus. I have another glass to go with dinner so this will be the pop and pour note after about 45 mins open. My last bottle (with one 2002 VS left). Delicious.

Drank alongside the 03 and 04. Favorite of the 3 by a pretty wide margin, in large part because bottle age has done this some good. White ppper, funky, earthy, wild underbrush (almost southern rhone like), sweet cherry and blackberry on the nose. Very spicy rich blackberry fruit on the palate - earth receds a little bit and is just in the background. Continues to smoothen out as it opened, suggesting it still has a lot of life yet.

Black berry nose. Excellent balance. Plenty of fruit and life. Excellent finish. More complex and subtle. Drink over the next 2 to 3 years.
