Ridgeview Vineyard Tour and Tasting (Ridgeview Vineyard): Very pale salmon (a better description might be rose gold). Very delicate nose of medium intensity aromas of red fruits (strawberry, raspberry, cherry), rose petal, brioche, honey. Developing. Off dry, high but creamy acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, medium flavours - strawberries and cream. Medium (+) finish. Very good quality, lots of delicate and refined complexity. Saigné method. 86% Pinot Noir, 14% Pinot Meunier.

Pale peachy orange color. Characterful yet not that attractive nose with aromas of smoke, chalk dust, some woolly lanolin, a little bit of unripe apple and a hint of crunchy white fruit. The wine is quite juicy, dry and feeling barely ripe or borderline unripe on the palate with flavors of fresh cherries, green apples, some under-ripe strawberries, a little bit of chalky minerality, light earthy tones, a hint of steely character and a touch of redcurrant. The wine is moderately high in acidity with soft and creamy mousse. The slightly unripe tones lend some roughness to the wine, but the dosage shows just a little, lending some welcome roundness to the edges. The finish is long, tart and characterful with flavors of earthy spices, somewhat ripe red cherries, a little bit of tart redcurrants, light wild strawberry tones, a hint of woolly lanolin and a touch of smoke.
A somewhat weird, slightly unripe and still relatively fun and even surprisingly balanced rosé. Not perhaps the most sophisticated one out there, but still performing a lot better than most of the other 2013 Ridgeviews at this point. Enjoyable and quite memorable.
