We did a wine tasting comparing Jacqueline Bahue Cabernet Franc Lodi 2014 to the Jacqueline Bahue Cabernet Franc Clarksburg 2014, both form the Sierra Foothills region of California, where wine has been grown since the Gold Rush.. While generally considered an old world grape, Cabernet Franc from the Sierra foothills where the climate is warmer than in France’s Loire Valley produces a rich fruit forward Cab Franc. The Lodi was bright with fresh tannins and is possibly age worthy due to the tannins and acidity. The Clarksburg was smooth, full bodied and very well balanced. While there were slight differences between the Clarksburg and Lodi wines, now I feel like I need to try a Cabernet Franc from Chinon region of France. Such problems.
Clarksburg - Appearance was deep clear garnet. It looked beautiful when held overhead and looking up through the glass while sitting outside on a nice sunny afternoon. Moderate aroma of plum and oak. Taste was dry, smooth, full bodied with medium tannins that were soft, smooth and round. Flavors were moderate and consisted f smoke, spice, dark fruit and coffee which was consistent from first sip until the medium delightful finish. Also paired perfectly with the pizza and salad.

Very flavorful, fruity. Good body and decent finish. This Cabernet Franc was truly a surprise. Lots of flavor, will definitely buy again.
