  • Fabulous honey suckle scented, medium gold colored, with a pronounced composition of all the great Riesling characteristics of green, citrus, stone and tropical fruits. Marmalade and honey. Couldn't detect the petrol mentioned by others.

Looks to have more time to rest in the cellar, though again, why? It's not going to improve from here. In my opinion.

Off dry, high acidity, lower alcohol, medium bodied yet unctuous mouthfeel and very long 60 second plus finish

This is a very good wine and, easily matched to my honey Dijon chicken breast and wild mushroom risotto.

Methinks I should run out and buy more of this, but having seen Riesling prices as compared to Chardonnay, for example, I might take a truck! ... For this, and others.

***German Rieslings. I know them, but I don't KNOW them!
If you're a lover of this amazing grape and the wine it produces, please let me know your favorites.
    Thanks very much, in advance!

This grape is part of my quest to experiment and drink outside of my own lanes, to which are already varied, but there's oh so much more!

    PS - Drink the Rainbow!

  • I have simply repeated my TN from 2+ years ago.
    One left.

Note: I use a scale on which 85 represents a very good wine.

I will confess that I am an easy mark for Riesling, and this wine won me over.
In terms of specifics, dpb hit the nail on the head (Review from 3/29/2016).

There is the possibility that this wine will be the same in 5 years. I may very well find this out.

  • Boy is this bottle ever easy to put back quickly... drank a whole bottle over 4 hours and didn't even feel the slightest bit buzzed. The aromas are fairly light and sweet, with some honeysuckle and walnut liqueur. Pretty light and airy notes, though. The palate is quite a bit richer, with lovely luscious body. The texture is more like a Spätlese than a Kabinett... love the body. The flavors are light, some minerality, quite a bit of lychee, and nice acidity, but not too strong. The more it's held in the mouth the more the acid is noted, though. More acid dials up on the slightly intense finish. Some minerality notes coupled with just a hint of honey. Quite pretty and enjoyable today. Studying my various notes over the last 7 years, I'm not convinced this wine has moved much at all within that time. My notes are all similar, but my score does vary a bit... could have just been the day. This likely will drink easy for several more decades.

(Karlsmuhle Kaseler N?chen Kabin) Germany/Austria Dear Friends, Last night I was invited to listen. Not to taste or comment but just to listen. The immediacy of attending a symphony in silence is an event that has captured the spirit of an era and of an audience for generations. It is a timeless exercise that can be appreciated in recorded form but only "physically" experienced in person. In one of the world's supreme acoustic halls, you hear every pluck, every note as an individual within the brilliance of the whole and the sum seems to resonate off of every hair as it stands on end during a crescendo. That was my experience last night and the treat was Smetana - my ears are still full of the moment. When Smetana created Die Moldau (and Ma Vlast), his goal was to create a pictorial sense of Bohemian pride through music - a sense of nationalism that would prop up his homeland (now the Czech Republic) and the monarchs of his era. That notion lead me to our hobby and the renewed sense of pride in a resurgent Austrian and German wine industry, both at the precipice of the namesake river and her tributaries of wild water. This set of specials arrived in the middle of the night (last night in my email) and it seemed appropriate to offer them while the music was still ringing loudly... You can't go wrong with any of these - they are from top vintages at terrific prices, about the same as in their homeland (or less): ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price - we cannot get an additional shipment at this price: 2005 Messmer Burrweiler Schlossgarten Riesling Kabinett (halb-trocken) 2005 Karlsmuhle Kaseler Nies'chen Riesling Kabinett 2004 Muller-Catoir Mussbacher Eselshaut Riesling Kabinett ...and, one from Austria: 2005 Schloss Gobelsburg Riesling Vom Urgestein If you are looking for a dry, quenching example (versus the RS of Germany), this everyday wine can be quaffed at a moment's notice. Please limit requests to 3/each Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Germ7610 Germ7620 Germ7630 Austr8710
