This has come along very nicely. Whereas I got Northern Rhone in its younger years, there was a wider berth of fruit and some smokiness that reminded me of Hunter Valley. Lovely mature fruit, erring on the dried spectrum now, with smoked meat tips, a good blast of pepper, and sweet baking spices. Tannins are very fine, and if not fading, certainly a little too gentle for long term development. Two years seems like a nice holding period to see what happens.

Opaque dark garnet. A: pepper, roasted meat, olive. F: very expressive, rich, deep, concentrated flavors. Dark berries and black plum, but mostly savory notes of charred brisket and a long, lifted finish. 92-93, just short of 2011 Graillot.

PnP through VinAire, deep red in the center, with a thinning clarity towards the rim. Initially a gorgeous nose and a nice entry, but with a sharp, somewhat disturbing, olive brine note on the finish. This dissipated in 30 minutes to a more rounded finish, which I think brings it more in line with the overall experience. Some mint on the finish. Classy and old world in style.

This has really improved with some bottle age. Nice peppery notes on the palate.
