This vintage seems a bit high-toned and astringent; previous vintages had more guts and interest. Atypical for this wine? A bit of a surprise for 2015, which generally had ample fruit. Will give it some more time to see if it evolves.

Tasting at Eyrie (McMinnville, Oregon): Winery tasting. Interesting to try but not something I'd pursue. Kind of a 'wine-lite'. Nose is crisp and fresh with hints of white fruit and mineral. Palate is ultra light bodied with lemon/lime water. Short finish. Nothing offensive, just lightweight across the board.

This is an interesting wine that I enjoy, but I don't find it great. The nose is interesting with ripe melon, honeysuckle, and a hint of lemon. The palate is good, but not great. A touch thin in the middle and short finish, but good as an aperitif or a picnic wine.

I drank quite a bit of this grape in Switzerland, and Eyrie's version is exquisitely authentic--brought back many good memories.

This really doesn't do much for me. Lacking depth and complexity, probably better with food.
