  I remember loving this wine when I tasted it at the winery. It’s a beautiful expression of Sonoma Cab Franc. In many ways it drinks like a right bank Bordeaux. But as it opens up the vegetal Cab Franc notes start to shine through. Still has grippy tannins as you’d expect, even with 10 years of age. I see no reason to hold this any longer. But wish I had another bottle. A nice Father’s Day treat.

  I found this in the back of the cellar and with no CT reviews I had no idea what to expect from a 2012 Cali Cab Franc. Turned out to be a pleasant surprise and absolutely perfect with our lamb dinner. It had more in common with an aged bdx than a Loire CF, which is what I might have been expecting. Slight funk on opening, mature fruit, leather, tobacco, perhaps some herbs but nothing green and stemmy like I associate with CF. I’m not sure I would have held this any longer, but drinking window was ideal and it would have been nice to have a few more of these.
