  • Bu en succ.
Super juteux et sallivant, j'ai bien aimé.
Expressif et droit avec une belle acidité.
Pas mal de fruit et de minérailté avec une belle finale assez longue.
    Très bon.

  • From magnum. Very ripe and quite expressive. Good acidity, but not overly vibrant or refreshing. Slightly mineral. 87-89

  • Usually a brilliant fruit driven nose, this one, despite its vintage, had lost its fruit and barely hanging on by tart acid. Should move on to the next vintage

  • Summer arrives next week, and that means it's officially rosé season. Not many Super-Tuscan rosés hit America's shores, and Antinori's Scalabrone, which hails from the family's Guado al Tasso estate, is so delicious you can't help wonder if Italian wine-lovers are keeping them all to themselves. Today, we're delighted to spotlight the beautiful, affordable Guado al Tasso 2015 Bolgheri Scalabrone Rosato, a superb rosé to enjoy all summer long. Antinori's brilliant salmon-hued Scalabrone bursts with Bolgheri terroir, bristles with acidity, and floods the palate with delicate texture and juicy dry extract.

Named after a Robin-Hood-style pirate who ravaged the ships in the Bolgheri port, Scalabrone is a rare rosato that holds a designation from the DOC, or Denominazione di Origine Controllata, but its Antinori pedigree, its seaside Bolgheri locale, and its high quality all suggest that the wine justly earned its DOC status. A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 30% Syrah, Scalabrone receives the benefit of Antinori's thoughtful winemaking protocol. Each grape varietal ferments separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel; after blending, the wine ages first in stainless steel and then rests in bottle before release. The resulting wine is a lovely accompaniment to a wide variety of meals--from vegetarian dishes to seafood to light pastas--but it's also delicious just on its own.

2015 was a glorious growing year in Italy, and although the Maremma Coast saw a little more rain than other areas, Bolgheri got plenty of sunshine, and this wine shows it in its open, vibrant profile. Rich cherries, succulent raspberries and fresh-cut herbs dance with crushed flower petals and a kiss of orange zest in this refreshing, aromatic '15 Rosato Scalabrone. Zingy acidity keeps this wine nimble, but it offers a delightful complexity that is sure to delight Antinori fans. Contact your portfolio manager to get your winsome '15 Scalabrone, a terrific value for its under $19 price point and a great introduction to the storied Guado al Tasso estate. Rosé season calls; answer it with Italian style!
