  • Hazy notes from a few days ago. A nice Barossa shiraz, ready now, with medium bodied, rich plum and pepper flavours and a hit of oak as well. I'm not as enamoured with Oz shiraz lately, for some reason, but this was a nice enough wine in the Barossa mold.

Nose of blackberry, tar, band-aide, cassis port. Very dark and rich, some chocolate mocha on the palate with currant. This wine took over 2 hours to open up in a decanter, at first it was a bit odd and disjointed, but when it did open up it was soft and supple and had heaps of structure that melded together on the palate. The oak was not easily detectable at first, but it too needed so time to evolve with the fruits. Without the jammy nature of some Barossas, this had solid structure of tannins and solid sweetish black fruits to match.
