MDW BBQ (Chicago, IL): I think I liked this a little more in the past; my palate is shifting more and more away from those green notes in sauvignon blanc these days. There's that green astringency on the palate that I'm not a fan of, but there's moderate acidity here. This would probably be a fairly nondescript wine if it were made from grapes other than sauvignon blanc, but that's the grape that adds those mildly unpleasant green tones.

The wine looks greenish gold colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells and tastes like lime, lemon and baker's yeast, salt flower. The wine finishes long.

Off the list at Parachute. An attractive and compelling Sauvignon. The nose is full and lifted with lightly grassy and mineral aromas. The palate has lots of volume and weight for a Sauvignon, but is chiseled and fresh. A terrific wine and value.

Eurocup final (Chicago, IL): Well, how's that for something you don't see every day? Sauvignon from Burgundy. This is a really taut wine, with tons of snippy acids. Heaps of minerality, although there are definitely tones of smokiness and green peppers here. I really liked the mineral cut here, and although it wasn't the most profound or deep wine, it certainly was very good.
