  • As this is the top Riesling of the winery, the name "GeGe" is a pun on the "GG" wines that are supposed to be the best wines of the winery - but they are supposed to be dry as well. The ¾ refers to this wine being "75% dry". 13,06% alcohol, 11 g/l residual sugar, 6,6 g/l acidity.

Moderately deep lime green color. Small bubbles start to form on the inside of the glass. Very ripe, sweet-toned and somewhat waxy nose with pretty concentrated aromas of stony minerality, pear marmalade, some aromatic green herbs, a little bit of honeyed richness, light smoky tones, a hint of tangerine and a touch of steely minerality. The wine is moderately full-bodied, rich and ripe on the palate with slightly sweet-toned and pretty concentrated off-dry flavors of lemon marmalade, juicy red apples, some peach, a little bit of chalky mineral bitterness, a candied hint of fruit marmalades and a touch of honey. The wine is pretty smooth and even somewhat oily on the palate, but also very balanced and structured - thanks to its high acidity. The finish is ripe and rich with quite long, fruity and slightly off-dry flavors of peach, some developed wizened stone fruit tones, a little bit of cantaloupe, a hint of smoke and a touch of slatey minerality.

A beautiful, rich and quite concentrated Mosel Riesling that shows quite a bit of substance and some weight, yet doesn't come across as too ponderous or cumbersome: it carries the warmer vintage with ease. At 5 years of age, the wine is starting to exhibit the first signs of development, so perhaps it isn't for the really long haul. Nevertheless, a lovely wine that is drinking well right now and probably will continue to develop for at least a handful of years more. Terrific value at 14,50€.
