This is so lovely. I want to keep smelling it. Nose of layer butter cream cake with banana filling, white flower, yellow ripe pear. Medium weight, good acidity. The pear flavor attaches to the acidity the moment it hits and then rides it whole whole time the mouth salivates. Added lemon rind, a touch of banana, butter cream yellow cake, and maybe a touch of marzipan. It’s zippy, not creamy and buttery. It has just aged so well.

Birthday Dinner with Popiah Party (Jade Palace, Forum Galleria, Singapore): Absolutely lovely for a Bourgogne. This was a credit to both its maker and the lovely white vintage. The nose showed lovely flecks of flinty, chalky mineral running through notes of white fruit, melon and mineral. The palate was absolutely spot on. Fresh, bright and juicy, with an unusual depth for a Bourgogne in its white fruit and winter melon flavours, these lined with a lovely bit of lime zest, and a wonderfully defined minerality at the finish. Such a lovely wine. Drinking well now, but still with a few years headroom ahead of it.

A really good quality Bourgogne. This had a nice nose that could only have come from Burgundy, with light notes of cream, toasted apples and a touch of stony mineral. The palate was really impressive too. Slightly thin and unyielding at first, it opened and put on weight really nicely with a bit of air, showing a creamy textured mouthful of apples, limes and a nice mineral line trailing away into a spicy finish. Really nice freshness, balance and definition throughout - this was exactly what you would want from a Bourgogne.
