What a great mature Pomerol. Full nose of classic matured Merlot. Plum, forrest, mushroom and still a nice Backbone. Not a great wine, but a real pleasure to enjoy solo or with Rib-Eye with Béarnaise and toasted bread. More it doesnt Need to be very happy

The YPD on this was unreal. That's yum per dollar. This was such a pleasant smooth aged right bank doing everything right. Definitely in its prime, earth and stable flavors there, but still some light red fruit, strawberry and raspberry doing their thang. 1998 right banks are up their with 2001 german riesling and 2010 Barolo for me as the best combos out there.

Similar to other bottles this year. Lovely garnet color and a full, plum scented nose. Sweet with a bit of forest floor. Just delicious – continues to be a great surprise and fantastic value. (92)

This continues to be one of the best QPR bottles in my cellar. Unfortunately, the stock is depleting. Warm, plummy nose and palate. There is lushness but also great balance and verve. Terrific Pomerol that is worth a look. I have no experience with other vintages but I love the '98. (93)

(Chateau Bellegrave a Pomerol) COLOR-dark; NOSE-clearly some oakyness; strawberries and sour cherries; a little greenness; PALATE-some nice bitter tannins on the back-end; a massive creaminess; really a cigar red wine; really rich and drinkable; great texture; beautiful black tea on the back-end; raspberry on the attack; very balanced; not the most complex; spectacular; drinking amazingly right now; GV-91+

Unfortunately, my last bottle of this lovely wine is mildly corked.
