A private tasting with friends (Hotel Jean Moët, Épernay, France): Tasted blind. Easily identified as 2012 Brunello di Montalcino. Very typical for varietal, terroir and (warm) vintage. Powerful and chewy, impressive core of ripe cherry fruit, warm spices, dry finish. This will need a lot of time, but the quality is unmistakeable.

Benvenuto Brunello 2018; 2/18/2018-2/19/2018: Rispetto al Brunello annata 2013 frutta più scura, meno nitida e croccante, più spezia, cedro candito. Struttura importante, un certo calore percepibile e una struttura tannica adeguata. Una delle migliori riserve 2012 tra quelle degustate. Impressione che possa migliorare con qualche anno di bottiglia.
