Very nice. Comes out of bottle with a medium-dark purple with ever the slightest hint of crimson, nicely displaying the ten years of bottle age. Perfumed nose that you’d expect with ripe raspberries, blueberry compote that is enveloped by judicious use of oak like most of these central coast GSMs. Secondary elements make this pretty interesting, with some pleasant notes of charcoal and bacon fat rounding out the palate. Nice long finish. Drunk over several hours and the wine held up well, but I’m not sure I’d wait to drink this - pretty sure this is peak at present. One personal note: I’ve personally found the 2010s from this producer to be good while the 2009s are not. Perhaps the wine making at Epoch has evolved ?

Oh baby, this is good and a perfect spot right now at almost 10 years of age. 62% Syrah/14% Mourvedre/12% Grenache/12% P.S. Big mouthfeel of blackberry, blueberry, and boysenberry right up front. Rich and chewy texture with notes of black licorice, cracked pepper, griller meat, earth, and smoky minerals. Great balance, supple tannins, and a beautiful long finish with layers of flavor. Gorgeous wine!

Dark smoky fruit...2 hour decant. Earthy plum. Full bodied wine that nearly slapped me in the face at the start. Ample time left if you still have some.
