A great Barolo with that unique combination of depth and refinement and earthy and fresh/floral notes. Beautiful! This bottle also made me think of how Barolo is a kind of Burgundy in Italy...
Light ruby color, almost defying the depth and strength of the wine. An exciting nose with fresh and expressive aromas of dark fruit, sour cherry, earthy tones and dense licorice contrasted by some floral hints. Full bodied with dense but smooth mouth coating tannins, fresh acidity and sone good fruit. A very long finish that keeps on lingering for minutes. There is plenty of structure left to further develop. I expect that it might fleshen out even more on the palate and might develop the superior smoothness/freshness balance that I remember from the 1990 vintage of this wine. It might even develop a notch up. But it is amazing to drink now already.
Drink now - 2037.
The bottle was quite open for business immediately after popping the cork but it was a lot better after about 2 hours.

Retailer tasting; just short notes.: Complex wine with good fruits, forest floor, minerals, chocolate, good acidity and firm but round tannin. 93+ for today.

I think that the very light colour indicated that the wine still needed a lot of air when I tasted it; so no judgement.

Wijnkoperij Okhuysen 150th Anniversary Tasting (Kromhouthal, Amsterdam, NL): Superior depth and definition, tannic but playful and with lots of nuances.
