  • Flowers, minerals, freshly baked pound cake, grapefruit peel, lemons, hint of herbs, exceedingly dry, followed by an almost endless and intensely mineral aftertaste with a faint note of unripe pineapple core, just a lovely lovely wine. Almost certainly at its peak, but no hurry--this has at least five more years ahead of it, probably more. Perfect for hot summer evenings. [Tasted over more than an hour from the Jancis Robinson glass.] See my earlier notes of 4/7/2023, 9/6/2022, 6/27/22, 6/16/21, and 4/27/20. {Also--opened a second bottle a few days later, which I poured at a significantly warmer temperature, I'd guess something like 60 degrees F or even a bit warmer, and the not-quite-ripe-pineapple-core note became MUCH more prominent.}

  • Vivid flowers, lemon peel, and white grapefruit (peel and all), on a foundation of intense minerality, with a wisp of unripe peaches and a touch of herbs (mint? dill?). Extremely long and mineral aftertaste. Really extraordinary. This would be spectacular with grilled perfectly fresh seafood. There's no hurry at all, but also no reason to wait. (Tasted over an hour and a half from the Jancis Robinson glass.) [See my earlier notes of 9/6/2022, 6/27/22, 6/16/21, and 4/27/20.]

  • (See my notes of 6/27/22, 6/16/21, and 4/27/20). Extremely dry, with vivid acidity. Above all, this is a powerfully mineral, almost "salty" wine, supported by smells and flavors of grapefruit peel, lemon grass, mint, flowers, and a hint of nuts, and with an exceptionally long and intense aftertaste. Really quite extraordinary.

    No hurry, but there's no reason to wait. Especially recommended with very fresh and simply prepared seafood. (Tasted from the Jancis Robinson glass.)

  • Retasted a year later (see 6/16/21 and 4/27/20), this is an extraordinary wine. Extremely dry and intensely mineral, with notes of mixed herbs, almonds (and other nuts), delicate flowers, grapefruit peel, and tangerine, and a strikingly powerful and exceptionally long aftertaste. Pleasant acidity. Austere, yet enjoyable. I wonder what this will be like with another year of age? (But, although there's no hurry, that's not a reason to wait!) This would be perfect with simply prepared seafood.

  • Strong mineral vibe. Slight talc note on the nose. Not particularly fruity, yet somewhat lemony/ briny. Surprisingly weighty on the palate given that this possesses a mere 11.5% alcohol. This continues to evolve in a pleasant fashion, it has become more complex and interesting over time. I suspect it'll over deliver for at least another five years, probably ten even. Shockingly complex wine for something with such a humble moniker as Vinho Verde.
